Dear Diary #31: Sleep, Coffee, Rain in the Winter

Dear Diary,

Almost had to sign up for a full day class. Did more than a few of those during college. Ready to fall asleep by the third hour -- I actually did fall asleep at my 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm lectures. Even loading up on coffee didn't help. In fact, you'll find sections in my college notes that are blank where I wrote, "fell asleep."

A clump of instant coffee always gets stuck to the bottom of my cup. Rinsing with cold water doesn't get it out. Leaving the last drops of my coffee in there also doesn't do anything. But if I rinse it and let the tap water sit there for an hour or so, it all dissolves. What sorcery is this?

Soaked. Completely soaked. In the middle of winter. After freezing all of last week, it warmed up today and started raining very hard. Luckily, I had my winter coat on which manages to keep water out significantly better than my lighter spring/fall jacket. Too bad I'm too cool for umbrellas -- read: too lazy to carry one -- because it would have worked out better that way.

After decades of biting my own cheek, I think it's time I learned to chew slower. You'd think I would have tried sooner given the pain of the initial chomp and the ensuing canker sores that last over a week. But it's so much easier to just chew without paying attention and hope my cheek doesn't decide to jump under my teeth.

Later.
