Frozen Dinner: Hungry-Man Backyard Barbeque

More frozen food of the Hungry-Man variety.
Hungry-Man Backyard Barbeque Package
Overview/ Contents
A pretty typical box with the food divided into three sides and one main item. The biggest tray contained the meat, and the smaller ones included mashed potatoes, corn, and a brownie. Two pieces of meat were part of the main course and they were not the same: one piece of chicken and one piece of pork. This meat was, of course, drenched in barbeque sauce. The sauce was actually a paste (i.e. not a frozen block) when I took the package out of the freezer and everything else seemed less frozen than usual -- problem on my end.

Cooking
This is standard by now: I don't like to cook frozen food in the supplied plastic tray. Instead, I pull the frozen blocks of food out of the tray, put them on plates, and cook them in the microwave. Nothing changed this time around. This one only took two plates and a bowl: one for the main course, one for the corn and potatoes, and one bowl for the brownie -- completely forgot to take a picture of that.

Didn't bother looking at it. I really don't buy these for their nutrition.
Chicken and Pork Cooked in a Dish
Taste & Verdict
Barbeque sauce has never done it for me. I am not the biggest fan of it even when it's not in frozen, pre-cooked, less than $5 a box form. That's not to say I hate it, I just wouldn't order it if I had a choice. Having said that, the barbeque sauce used for the chicken and pork in this Hungry-Man Backyard Barbeque meal was fine. I didn't make an excuse to drench my potatoes and corn in the sauce like I would with Swiss Chalet sauce, but it wasn't remotely bad. The chicken was a bit stiff while the pork was very soft. No knife was required, everything including the chicken, was easily parted with a fork.

Sides were well done. It tasted like the "typical" corn and potatoes that I loved so much. And the dessert brownie tasted good -- I like the brownies way more when cooked separate from the rest of the package.

Overall, a pretty typical and acceptable good meal for me. Not one of my favorites, but that is because of personal taste and nothing to do with the quality of this product. Would buy again if on sale!
